- Students have made their list of Top 10 Eastover Memories to begin the Writing Process of their speech!
- This week we will read various speech samples from past years and discuss what made them intriguing to listen to or what we would change about them to make them stronger - Students will begin writing 3 different “hooks” to grasp the audience’s attention and help them brainstorm what the rest of the speech will feel like |

- Students will be working towards finishing their personalized Compass Learning assignment from last week. Scroll to last week to read objective details.
- When this assignment is completed, students will work on a creative free write using Emojis! Students will be demonstrating the proper grammar conventions from our 5th grade writing standards while practicing their narrative writing skills. |

- First of all: LET'S CELEBRATE A FANTASTIC AND WONDERFUL WAX MUSEUM THAT IS NOW COMPLETE!

- Students will be working on a personalized Compass Learning assignment that will specifically focus on the Language Standards of 5th grade. Assignment 1 focuses on Conjunctions, Interjections, Prepositions, Prepositional Phrases, and identifying them as well as using them correctly in their own writing.

- Students will be preparing for the big day: Wax Museum on March 23rd!
- Students will have a dress rehearsal for the kindergarten, first, and second grade students on March 22nd with full costumes and props from 9-10:15 in the auditorium. - The third and fourth grade students along with parents will be coming on March 23rd to visit the Wax Museum from 9-10:15 in the auditorium. |

- Students will be continuing the writing process as a way of polishing our Wax Museum narratives - Students will be working towards memorization of the first paragraph of speech - We will be utilizing time during technology class to work on “Grammarly.com” to edit our typed GoogleDoc copies |
Week of February 29th
- Students will receive a Costume Contract to be turned in on March 4th. This contract will show that the student has planned out their costume and will working to make it happen so that it is ready by the due date of March 18th. This contract shows that all communication is clear from teacher, to student, to guardian!
- Students will be writing their Wax Museum Narratives with guidance from their new Checklist (they received this in class from Ms. R). This draft will be double spaced in their notebook to prepare for peer editing. |

We will go over all of the expectations and deadlines for this project and write down EVERY date into our agenda to ensure that all students are being held accountable for the awesome work that they will be doing. Continuation of week prior. (Scroll down to see more) Students will continue to review the different types of figurative language and will be practicing how to identify them in texts and implement them into their own writing to create more descriptive and creative pieces. We will use PANTHERS FOOTBALL to inspire us with a creative project using the skills that we have learned. |
