Your Expository Piece Checklist:
#1) I have a well-organized paper that is divided into 5 paragraphs as
discussed in class through the 5th Grade Writing Samples Ms. R modeled for us.
#2) I have the following paragraphs:
Introduction Paragraph:
Hooks in your reader with a question or lead, gives the reader an overview of what your paper will be about
Body Paragraph 1:
Informs the reader on the first main idea or subtopic you chose from your graphic organizer
Body Paragraph 2:
Informs the reader on the second main idea or subtopic you chose from your graphic organizer
Body Paragraph 3:
Informs the reader on the third main idea or subtopic you chose from your graphic organizer
Conclusion Paragraph:
Summarizes the main idea of your paper and what you want your reader to know. Pulling small bits of information from each body paragraph to summarize your main idea is a great way to make this happen.
#3) I have used proper Language Conventions (grammar) in my Expository piece and have double checked my word usage and sentence structure by reading it aloud to myself. (This helps me find silly mistakes).
#4) I have edited my piece numerous times to ensure that I have spelled words correctly.
#5) I have checked over my paper is typed using the "left alignment" (not centered on the page like a poem), has a clear font, and is indented before every paragraph.
