Happy Monday, kiddos! Please read the directions below.
#1) In your notebook under "Mini Lessons" please write down the date in the top right hand corner.
Underneath that, write our goals for today:
"My first goal is to be able to use text evidence to help me answer questions directly from the text. My second goal is to be able to use inferences to help me answer questions from a text."
#2) Keep your notebook open to this mini lesson page.
Watch the video to help you understand what it means to cite text evidence.
#3) Did you see in the video how they talked about sentence starters for citing text evidence?
These are SO important and help give you an outline of how to format your answer.
Below you will find an anchor chart of sentence starters for citing text evidence. Please copy them down NEATLY in your notebook under our goal for today. You will go back and use these a lot!

How are you feeling, friends? Did you complete 1-5? I hope you are feeling more confident with these 2 objectives. If you're still not feeling confident, these videos are here to help you! I recommend watching them again and giving yourself more time to process the information.
Next:
#6) It's Word Study time! Go to VocabularySpellingCity.com/HaydenRock to view our Word Study page.
#7) Please find the blue banner that says "Vocabulary and Spelling Lists".
This is where you will always find your Word List. Click where it says "Words Within Words"
and then click SPELLING TEST.
#8) Take the Spelling Test (with headphones on) to see how you do!
Once you've done that, you may play games with your words
(there are 11 game choices) or begin your homework for Wednesday!
On Wednesday your descriptive sentences are due. You will do one word per sentence. Remember: these sentences are to HELP you understand what the word means and must be descriptive to earn credit.
You are writing these on the next page in your Writing notebook after your definitions.
#9) If you also finish your homework, you can read your Workshop book!
